The perfect ending

Well tonight we had a lovely little Talent Show produced and carried out by Jenna. It was a great way to end the year. First Jenna made a sign telling us when and what would happen at the Talent Show. She gave us all tickets and a program. I loved it, it's something I would do. Brody and Jenna performed and they let Owen and Cole have their moment too. We had a little intermission with popcorn. I wish I had a camera right about then cause Owen was having a melt down. I did take a few pictures on my phone which I will post as soon as I figure out (which means ask Jay) how to do that. Speaking of cameras we bought a new one on boxing day so we should have it this week. I'm hoping for some cute pictures to come. I have some new things I want to do this year: start a happy moments jar, get my picky eaters to make some progress, do more things as a family, help Jay and I get in better shape, and study the Book of Mormon more intensely. Okay hopefully next post will be filled with pictures.

9th day of Christmas

So I've been doing the 12 days of Christmas for Jay and today is the 9th day (I want to finish on Christmas Eve) so I couldn't come up with a tangible gift for him so I wanted to pay him a few compliments.

Okay so the next part is for Jay, read if you dare. (mushiness is inevitable)

On the 9th day of Christmas my true love gave to me: 9 sweet thank yous.

1. Thank you for your love
2. Thank you for your smile
3. Thank you for your kindness in times of trials
4. Thank you for your smiley eyes
5. Thank you for your hugs and kisses
6. Thank you for your testimony of the Saviour
7. Thank you for your patience with my faults
8. Thank you for choosing me to be your wife
9. Thank you for the 4 beautiful children that you love so dearly

I will post the whole 12 days of Christmas and what I did for each day after I am finished it. I really appreciated taking the time each day to think about Jay and do a little something for him.

The End of the World

Okay so I may have started a few blogs in my day, but I thought if I started it on the day the world is supposed to end that it may different. It's gonna work this time, I promise! I am not even going to attempt to recap what has happened in the Harker household for the past 9 years since we became a family so I will just start fresh.
Yesterday was my 32nd birthday and it was great. Well, it started off rough and then got better. Jay was out of town on a painting job and so when the kids got up(early) I was the sole parent for them to bug. Cole managed to kick me in the face and the rest of the kids just jumped on my bed or a while. I felt loved! Jay got home just before the kids went off to school and gave me my present a toaster. It's not just any old toaster(which we previously had), but a 4 slice with perfect bagel toasting capability monster. I'm excited to use it. Then Jay let me sleep in for a while because the kids sleeping habits while he was gone were horrible. I appreciate a good nap. Thanks sweetie! After feeling rested we headed over to my mom's for some delicious lunch. Chicken salad croissants, yummy. Lots of my family was there which is always fun for me, I just love being with my family. After lunch Jay let me shop at Giant Tiger for a while (they are going out of business and everything was ultra cheap), I got some great deals. Just remember what my mom always says though "it's not a deal if you don't need it". When Jenna got home from school we did a huge puzzle together. I love that she is the only one in my family that will do puzzles with me, I'm training her well and by the time she's my age she'll be cranking out 2000 piece puzzles every other weekend. This is just wishful thinking. Anyway my day finished off with supper with Jay and the kids and a crossword puzzle. Pretty great birthday!
Here is the conversation I had with the kids at supper time:
Me: thank you everyone for a wonderful birthday
Brody: sorry mom I didn't get you a pink bike (this was his idea of what he wanted to get me for my birthday)
Me: that's okay, I don't need a bike to be happy.
Jenna: what do you need to be happy?
Me: I just need you guys
Brody: you already have us Mom
Me: that's right, so I'm already happy.
It was a great opportunity to let them know that material things don't make us happy. I truly am happiest when I'm around family, it doesn't matter what I get for a present. (even though I love my pink nail polish Lyndsey and Becca).

p.s. I will be uploading pictures after Christmas because we have saved up for a new camera, yippee
